I first came across Le Mas Candille online in 2024, and the photos alone were enough to make me fall in love. My partner and I have been traveling to the South of France for many years, often visiting the charming hilltop village of Mougins, but we had never stayed in Mougins before. When we read that Le Mas Candille had undergone an extensive renovation and was reopening in summer 2024, the photos alone convinced us it was the place we had been waiting for. And we were right.

In fact, it was so enchanting that by summer 2025, we returned for the second time—and it confirmed everything we had felt during our first stay. Le Mas Candille is more than just a hotel; it is a sanctuary of luxury, tranquility, and understated elegance, perfectly blending Provençal charm with refined modern comforts.

Le Mas Candille, designed by Hugo Toro, is set in an eight-acre private park on the edge of Mougins, a village famous for its cobbled streets, art galleries, and its long-time connection to Picasso. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by manicured gardens filled with lavender, olive trees, and cypress. The property sits high on the hillside, offering breathtaking panoramic views over Grasse, the perfume capital of the world. For guests who love to swim, there are two beautiful pools; one adults-only pool by the spa for ultimate tranquility, and a second, family-friendly pool near the pool bar for everyone to enjoy.

The property has 46 rooms and suites in total: 19 in the original historic farmhouse known as Le Mas, 21 in La Bastide, and 6 luxurious suites in La Villa, a newer building tucked quietly further down the estate. We stayed this year in one of the rooms in the Mas, and the welcome was incredibly thoughtful. Because it was our second stay, they surprised us with a bottle of wine and a personalized welcome card— it made us feel deeply appreciated. Our room had not one but two balconies, both offering lovely view toward the gardens. Many of the rooms here feature similar terraces or balconies.

Inside the room, the details are refined: Clarins toiletries in the bathroom, which had both a bathtub and a shower. The amenities include air conditioning, minibar, flat-screen TV, safe, bathrobes, slippers—all standard but executed with care.

Le Mas Candille has two restaurants, each with its own charm. Le Pool is the hotel’s relaxed poolside restaurant and bar. By day, it serves light Mediterranean dishes with a view over the valley of Grasse. By night, it turns into a chic poolside grill with candlelit tables and a lively yet elegant atmosphere. Le Tigrr Candille is a new addition to the hotel, bringing an Asian touch from Saint-Tropez. The menu blends Thai, Japanese, and Indochinese flavors, with dishes like sushi, dim sum, and curries, along with creative cocktails. The setting is chic and lively, and in the evenings there’s often live music, DJs, or themed events—so it feels more like a full night out than just dinner.

One of the highlights of Le Mas Candille is The Glow House, their Clarins spa. It’s a serene retreat focused on radiance and relaxation, with a lot of different treatments. I love that this wellness philosophy carries into the restaurants too, where healthy, skin‑friendly dishes complement the spa experience. The spa and its pool are adults only, creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere, while the other pool is family-friendly, making the hotel perfect for both couples and those traveling with children.

Staying at Le Mas Candille also means you are perfectly positioned for exploration. Mougins itself is a short stroll away and offers world-class restaurants, charming boutiques, and art galleries. Within a short drive, you can reach Cannes, Antibes, Nice, and even Monaco. Yet, when you return to the hotel, it feels as though you are miles away from it all—secluded, serene, and wonderfully private.
